Hello,
4Amanda, Inc (www.4Amanda.org), is a non-profit established in the name of Amanda Pagans-Hubbard to help cancer patients afford treatment, costly stays while traveling to and from treatment, and pay for all the unforeseen costs that cancer imposes on families.
We were excited to announce at the end of 2022 that we are an IRS tax exempt public charity under IRC Section 501(c)(3). You may view the IRS determination here.
In 2022, we took in donations totaling $64,230, we gifted or granted $65,390, and we had $1,248 in operating expenses.
YTD in 2023, we have taken in donations totaling $436,780, and we have gifted or granted $422,890, with $2,460 in operating expenses thus far.
Our operating expenses are so low because we run light & smart, there are no salaries, we do not pay to advertise, and most of our expenses are covered by donation to those purposes.
There are a few very important initiatives we are pursuing in ’24.
1 Speed & Efficiency
We want to be faster and more efficient! Right now, it takes us an average of 28.15 hours to process an intake and get the patient the funding they need. That may seem fast, but in many instances, it is not, and can mean the difference in late fee’s, missed treatments, etc, and inevitably that just means providing more relief funds and worse outcomes for patients. We want to invest roughly $6,000 in two platforms that will screen applications in minutes, and provide patients a digital wallet app that will put money in their hands 10 seconds after we authorize it.
2 Relationships with Hospital Systems
We have fomented good relationships with a dozen hospital systems, but we need to do better. This is going to require travel and attendance at events where many hospital system representatives are present at one place and time. These relationships save lives! Patients get referred to us quickly so we can help before they leave a cancer center where they might refuse treatment they cannot pay for, and the exposure has led to strong word of mouth donations. We estimate this will cost roughly $16,000 in 2024.
3 Fiver for Cancer
We have been talking about this since we founded 4Amanda, but we put it on the back burner to make certain we were getting money to patients quickly while we learned. A remote -- “Gig-worker” -- app for patients and their families is the gist of it. We have commitment from 13 companies that will hire directly on the app for contract remote work performed by cancer patients and their families. The entirety of the cost for this has been donated for three years!
We are doing some great things with your money, and if you have room left in your family budget, please consider making a kind donation here.
If you know someone fighting cancer, and believe they may need fiscal assistance, please tell them to contact us.
Best Regards,
Dan Hubbard
