A cancer diagnosis is one of the most devastating life events that patients and their families face.
The financial challenges that coincide with treatment are often as crippling as the disease.
The cost of cancer impacts nearly every financial decision from the moment of diagnosis. Where to live, what to drive, what to eat and drink, utilities, education and childcare, holidays, and so much more.
At 4Amanda, an IRS tax-exempt public charity (EIN 874778431), we’re committed to providing crucial support to cancer patients. Every month, we help hundreds of families by covering rent, paying for immunotherapy treatments and prescriptions, repairing patients' vehicles, and covering hotel stays during treatment.
We are looking for both cancer patients, and for all those who support them -- directly or indirectly:
Current and former cancer patients;
Parents and spouses of current and former cancer patients;
Other family caregivers of current and former cancer patients;
Leaders and community volunteers assisting current and former cancer patients;
Professionals like lawyers and accountants that help with things like bills and contracts for cancer patients; and,
Leaders of faith and non-faith based organizations that offer support to current and former cancer patients.
The goal is to better understand the needs of cancer patients and their families, how those needs arise, what sources are sought to meet those needs, and what are both the positive and negative results in terms of those needs being or not being met.
There is a great deal of peer reviewed research on fiscal toxicity in cancer care, but there is very little research and the ground level with cancer patients and their families as they negotiate the disease every day.
Even as we engage with patients and their families daily, there are situations we encounter that are new several times a week.
Your involvement in the CAB will both help us deliver better services to cancer patients, and help to direct valuable clinical research for the larger cancer community.
Our work will begin in January of 2025 and may continue for one year.
We will hold meetings and discussion panels online once each month, and post all CAB materials in the cloud for ease of access by CAB members.
Below you can read where our initial focus will be.
If you are interested in sitting on the CAB, please scroll to the bottom of this page and click to complete a short initial form. We will be in contact over the next 45 days.
